At swisspartners asset management is a two tiered process. First and foremost investment decisions are considered under a risk management perspective. As such, aspects like diversification and low correlation among assets, risk-adjusted weightings of positions and of course a strict selling discipline, are paramount at this level.

As a consequence the portfolio management process follows in a second step. Our investment philosophy is best described as active indexing – core-satellite approach. Here we put the emphasis on the asset allocation, from where more than three quarters of the performance originates. Subsequently we separate the asset classes in two categories. Cash and bonds are primarily held to preserve the capital and equities and commodities to enhance the capital.

Whereas we actively steer the asset allocation part, we tend to predominantly select index products on a regional, country or sector level when it comes to equity and commodity investments. However, we do direct investments in bonds on their individual merits like duration, quality and sector. As capital preservation minded investors we mainly invest in bonds of very high quality.

Last but not least we manage currencies as a separate asset class, independently from the underlying investment.

In summary our investment approach and philosophy aims at wealth preservation over an investment cycle with the capacity for some capital enhancement.
